Monday! March again.

Here are better photos of the newly grouted MOon pieces. THe sun shows how spectacular they would look with a candle inside of them.

Sunday and it is very cold and windy out - a typical March day!

Brrrrr! I forgot what March feels like as lately our weather has been much more like May! TOday though the weather is more March like and I will need to return to my winter coat.

I was finally able to grout my Moon vases. I will take better pictures and post them, perhaps tomorrow. I like how they have turned out. The Moon is still very mystical to me and I will remember the beauty of the it appearing through the clouds on that very windy night just a few weeks ago.

Friday and no work for me (outside of my in my house work!)

No work on the computer for schools needing subs in Duluth today. So I will plug away at my on-line CEU's and do a bit of house work, of course, I will mosaic a bit as this seems to settle me down.

I finished the cleaning up of my Mirror yesterday. It is quite HUGE at 27.5 inches tall and 14.5 inches wide. My friend Diane Isackson gave me the out side frame which used to be for a calendar. I used an assortment of stuff to decorate this - starting with two 3 dimensional leaves, given to me by Katie Lancaster's husband. These leaves were part of a broken wind chime set and have been sitting on my table for YEARS. I was inspired by the leaves to look for more objects, (tesserae is the official term for the small pieces attached to mosaics) and I found wooden birds, (these were NOT such a great choice as my grout STUCK to them - I ended up sanding the grout off yesterday), cobalt blue squares, and assorted long rectangles which I had gotten at a Saver's store. I had fun with this Mirror!

My other projects were these two vases/tea light holders. One is of the Moon through the clouds and the other is of the lake.

Monday and I am off!

Today I don't seem to have any "outside of my house" job, so I will clean for a few hours, grout my mirror and work on my job app. This is for a job in Superior for UWS that my sister spotted for me in the paper about recruiting minority candidates to go into Education Jobs.

Also, I need to work on my app for the Grand Marais show as this is due on Friday. It would be good to get this in the mail today or tomorrow.

Here is the mirror that I plan to grout today. Also a portrait of the Moon that I saw as I was coming home on Thursday from a CEU class. It was very windy and cold that night. The full Moon kept being hidden by clouds and was wrapped up in a haze of perhaps the flying snow!

And the woman at BLue Lake Gallery took NINE tea lights so I was pleased about this!

Saturday and I grouted yesterday

So today my fingernails look very dirty - even though it is just grout. Grout is a little bit worse than dirt as it stays there until my fingernails have grown out. Yuck!

Here are the five newest tea lights ready to go to the Blue Lake Gallery on Tuesday. Not the best photos as my camera "flashed" and made the grout look dull grey, not the really dark grey that it is.

Friday

Here is the Mirror that I am making out of a former calendar frame that my friend Diane Isaackson gave to me. I used many "left over" pieces from other projects. The large leaves were given to me by the owners of a shop in Two Harbors - these were part of a chime that had broken. The larger rectangles, as well as the circles, were part of a "sample" piece that I got from Savers in Duluth. The large blue squares were something that at one point I tried to GIVE away as I was convinced that I'd never use! THere are 4 small wooden birds surrounded by larger leaves - again, things that I just dug around and found. I guess this piece is telling me that I need to clean out my studio a bit!
